In January of 1933, the Nazi's came to power in Germany. Their leader, Adolf Hitler, had strong beliefs about life.
He deemed first and foremost that the ideal race was the Aryan race. Blond haired and blue eyed. He deemed
that all Jews were not superior and made rules and laws against their lifestyles. The Nazi's "final solution" to the
problem of having Jews in their country was to build concentration camps. All Jewish people were sent on long
train rides with no food, water, of bathroom facilities. When they reached their destination it was a desolate place.
People who were unable to work were killed right away. Others worked everyday of their lives with poor living
conditions and scarce amounts of food. There was illness and hunger all around the camps. Nazi soldiers
exterminated Jews in the gas chambers. They convinced them that they would be taking a shower but gas
instead of water would come out. Over 6 million Jews died in the camps throughout the course of the war.
